Preventing Theft Remove your GPS/SatNav and its windshield suction mount from your windshield and stow it out of site every time you park in a public place. Unfortunately, GPS/SatNav units are favourite theft items. |
Take it With You Consider taking the GPS/SatNav itself with you if you are walking or taking public transit in an unfamiliar place. It will continue to help you find your way. Part of the beauty of the new generation of GPS devices is their portability. |
Night Driving GPS improves night driving safety. Not often discussed, but in my opinion, it is one of the best features of in-car GPS/SatNav fact that it gives you better road awareness at night and in low-visibility conditions. |
At night, and especially during bad-weather night driving, a GPS/SatNav will tell you about, and show you an upcoming turn, ramp, etc. long before you can see it. On dark back roads, the GPS/SatNav map will give you a preview of what's ahead. |
Remember, first you drive and then you navigate as a second priority. It's up to you to use your GPS/SatNav in a way that enhances, rather than detracts from safe driving. Don't program the GPS while moving. |
